Constructing an Image of Excellence for West Virginia's Newest Mechanical Contractor

ARCOR Mechanical Systems provides pre-assembled mechanical systems to commercial and industrial sites. Formerly known as American Piping and Mechanical Contractors, the company rebranded to ARCOR, a name combining “arc,” representing dependability, energy, and efficiency, and “core,” signifying the essential mechanical systems within a building. Stewart Design partnered with this industrial startup to maintain their momentum, creating a brand that conveys clarity and credibility to attract more contracts, build trust, and win more bids without competing on price alone.
ARCOR aimed to stand out in the crowded mechanical contractor market, attract more clients, and solidify their reputation as professionals on job sites. Their new brand identity needed to be "something to grow into and be proud of," supporting their goal to keep momentum going and to "look the part on job sites."

Jonathan Giles, one of ARCOR’s founders, was particularly keen on ensuring the brand wouldn't just look good but would also help establish trust, increase their visibility in the marketplace, and ultimately position them as the go-to contractor for large projects.

ARCOR's bold logotype, designed by Stewart Design, features strong characters inspired by industrial mechanical systems. The arced “A” symbolizes movement, efficiency, and innovation, while also offering a subtle reference to the brand’s new name. This visual identity contributed to the perception of ARCOR as a company that stands out from competitors—so much so that their trucks, wrapped with the new branding, stand out. Giles shares that the new look "stands out more than $100M company trucks on job sites. Everyone knows the company now," he continues, "People see us and say, 'they're professionals.' If you're going to do it, you gotta do it right."

Though initially skeptical of the new name, ARCOR’s leadership quickly came around after receiving positive feedback from customers. Jonathan admitted, “At first, we had some people struggle with spelling and pronunciation, but once people learned it, it sticks in your head, like flipping a light switch every time you enter the room.”

ARCOR’s journey emphasized the value of professional marketing and branding. Jonathan reflected on seeing companies with excellent products fail because of poor marketing or subpar branding. He knew they needed to “stand out” and emphasized how marketing has been critical to the company’s success: “Businesses need this… that’s what people see.”

The response to ARCOR's new branding has been overwhelmingly positive. From truck wraps to business cards, the cohesive design, particularly the signature blue, “sticks out” and draws attention. Even in everyday interactions, the wraps are noticed, with comments coming in from places like gas stations and Walmart. The website, too, has become a key driver of awareness, with customers frequently saying, "I looked at your website," Giles shared.

Since the rebrand, ARCOR has seen tangible business growth, securing larger jobs and reinvesting profits into tools, equipment, and the right resources to handle bigger contracts.

Stewart Design helped ARCOR Mechanical Systems evolve from a small mechanical contractor to a trusted, professional entity that clients recognize and trust. By prioritizing clarity, consistency, and professionalism, ARCOR has secured a place in the market as a standout contractor, proud of their growth and ready to take on larger projects without competing solely on price.

“We didn't come to Stewart Design thinking a name or logo would get us 1,000 jobs. What we were really shooting for was something clean that would help us look the part at job sites, something we could really grow into and be proud of – and Stewart Design delivered."
